The city of Lansing is currently recruiting applicants for its 9th Annual Citizens’ Academy, beginning this September.
The Citizens’ Academy is an informal way to learn about the workings of Lansing city government and gives participants insight into how various Departments operate. Classes will be held monthly from Sept. 2018 through March 2019, usually on the second Wed. of the month from 6-8 p.m. The first class will be Wed., Sept. 12.
There is no cost to participate in the Citizens’ Academy, but it does require a time commitment. The program is open to Lansing residents 18 years of age and older as well as Lansing business owners. Applications are available at City Hall, 800 1st Terr. Residents can also apply on the City’s website, www.lansing.ks.us, beginning in early August. Class size is limited to 15 participants. Applications must be received by Sept. 9, 2018. Applicants will be notified about participation by Sept. 10, 2018.
