Council member David Trinkle, Jr. was appointed to the city council in September 2000 and was elected to a four-year term in April 2001. Trinkle is now serving his fourth term on the city council. He is a lifelong resident of Lansing's Ward 1, graduating from Lansing High School in 1980 and NEKA VoTech of Atchison, Kansas, in 1981.
Council member Trinkle served as the City Council President in 2008-09. He has been a member of the Lansing Parks and Recreation Advisory Board since 2001. He has also served as a:

Council member Trinkle loves to fish and hunt. He has been married to his wife, Donna, since 1982. They have a son, Tommy, who graduated from Lansing High School in 2002. He is currently serving as a Sergeant in the United States Army.
